New Furniture

Yay! We got our first patio set yesterday. Nothing too fancy. Yes, Powell River is big enough to have The Brick - though its a small version and we had to wait almost a week for this to arrive from the Island. This is on our deck just outside our kitchen (above the car port).

We've had it for a total of two meals thus far and the kids have insisted on eating outside for both dinner last night and breakfast this morning. I wonder when the novelity will wear off.

Figs are starting to grow on fig tree - we should have a few dozen this year - yum.

Visitor

I still don't know how to use the camera very well so this turned out really bad. We had a deer visit us yesterday evening but I was too slow finding the camera and finding the correct setting. That's Marla in the picture too - I don't know how I accomplished that - special talent of mine I guess.

Click on this to enlarge. This is Lund.

The tide is out. This is the view from where we ate lunch (fresh prawns!).

More of our Lund visit

The Boardwalk Restaurant.

Declan getting his ass kicked by Elias (Darby's friend).

Brenna, Neve, Marla and Ella.

Ella not happy to go home. *But marla had to get to work.

Lund Shellfish Festival

Darby waiting for his lunch demanded his picture taken.

The boardwalk.

If you choose to go on a paddle tour, you had to put up with the lamest "native" ceremony I've ever seen.

Darby wanted his picture taken yet again. He liked the waterwheel.

The Great Pokemon Battle

I forget who won, but I recall someone telling Darby he was cheating because they were only supposed to play with "trainers" that had only reached a certain "level" - Darby was apparently thumping them with a trainer that was was level "100"???. I don't speak the lingo so I don't understand what that means.

Camping - Haywire Bay

For the Victoria Day long weekend we went camping with a number of other families to a local municipal campground on the far side of Powell Lake. I decided early I was going to learn to use my camera which I have had for well over a year - i think over two years and maybe even three - I just don't know. Below is my attempt to use the PhotoStitch feature which you can use to make multiple photos look like one big wide photo. I think if you click on the photo it will open up bigger - I don't have time to test it.

The first photo is our group campsite. Yes, the boys are really roughing it with their Pokemon battles on their Nintendo DS. And I am not sure you can make it out a theatre was set up in the back there (the big white sheet hanging from the trees) since one of our fellow campers brought a projector - yeah, I know - we were really roughing it in the bush.

Ella and I took some of the boys for a walk in the woods. We didn't get far - but not because of Ella. Two of the boys, Wyatt and Alex, got tired and wanted to head back. This photo was maybe a a 5 minute walk from our campsite - we hung out at the fallen tree for quite a while.

And here is First Beach - its part of the campgrounds. In the far distance you can see the mouth of Powell River (not the town, the actual river). The kids would take rubber dingies to the littel island across from the beach and hang out there - I haven't confirmed it but some of the other campers were calling it Honeymoon Island - I'm not sure that is its official name.
