Rubber dingy convention out on the lake. I know Darby is the kid inthe middle but I don't know which on is Declan. Marla took this picture. I'm guessing the other kids are Alex, Tristan, maybe Ethan, maybe Madeline, I just don't know - I will ask Marla.

Out campsite was right beside the beach!

And our site is always busy. Four families on one site, its bound to be busy. Plus, many friends were on neighbouring sites. I definitely find in Powell River everybody seems to know everybody and that everybody is friendly.

Ella being Ella.

Tubing

Declan and Darby getting ready for a ride. That is the campground's beach in the background. Our campsite was the primo location right beside the beach.

The ride has just begun. Darby is howling with laughter and Declan is holding on for dear life.

Declan opted to ride in the boat...

and Darby instead got to ride with Chloe.

Tubing

Its not really a tube but every calls it that. While we were at Haywire bay, our friend Cory took Declan and Darby our on Powell Lake for a ride. Declan was scared beyond belief and he didn't last long. Darby on the other hand went for multiple rides.

Declan Painting

My office is getting close to being finished. Declan was painting it for me this morning. I picked BC Lions colours. I needed to make it bright because there is no window.

Palm Beach

After the reception that was after Declan's First Communion we met up with a bunch a families for a day at the beach. I hadn't been to this particular beach before: Palm Beach. Its a provincial park beach which actually isn't opened to the public yet. Somehow, we managed to get a key to the facilities though so we had the beach to ourselves. The thing is we were having so much fun that we forgot to take pictures. This is no way implies that we only take pictures when we are not having fun! So as we were leaving we remembered to take at least one picture. That's my buddy, Mike McHugh's minivan - we were one of the last to vacate. It started to get really cool as the sun was going done - a very welcome cool - it's been very hot lately so no one was dressed for how cold it got!

BTW: Swimming in the ocean never gets old!

Oh and Marla had a staring contest with a bear as we were leaving. Fun

Orca

Dang it. On our trip home from Comox on the weekend, Ella and I saw a pod of Orcas - there were six. I didn't have my camera with me! It was really impressive though. We just happened to be in right place on the ferry at the time. The captain had subsequently made an announcement after we saw them - but he messed it up and people rushed to the wrong side of the ferry at first. And by the time people realized the captain's mistake the whales were farther away. Ella, myself and one other family got to see the whales surface beside the ferry a few times be fore the rest of the passengers figured it out.
